Chinese mobile games sector set to double to over $24 billion by 2022

The Chinese mobile games industry will be worth $24.7 billion by 2022, according to a report.

Asia market intelligence firm Niko Partners reports that in 2017 the mobile market was worth $12.1 billion, which was smaller than the $15.5 billion PC market.

Taking over

But in 2018 mobile is expected to swiftly overtake PC and generate nearly two thirds of all total games revenue in 2022.

Overall Niko forecasts the market will be worth $42 billion in domestic revenue in 2022.

The number of Chinese mobile gamers meanwhile is predicted to increase from 598 million this year to 720 million in 2021.

Niko said the key drivers for growth include esports and battle royale titles. Core games are said to be leading the way in mobile game’s growth, though casual titles are also generating significant revenue.
