Gaming evolution: Wearables are "the new frontier" says Samsung

Wearables are the new frontier, and game developers should be looking to get their products on this new wave of devices as soon as possible.

That's according to Samsung's director of developer marketing, Suzanne Nguyen, who aims to drive wearable tech, specifically the Samsung Gear, within the developer community.

"Wearables really are the new frontier, and Samsung is leading the way in making wearables more connected to your life," explained Nguyen, speaking to PocketGamer.biz's George Osborn during Pocket Gamer Connects in Helsinki.

Sync up

Despite the fact that wearable devices are an extremely young branch of technology, there are already lots of games available that give players the chance to experience new forms of gameplay unique to wearables.

"There are a lot of games on the Samsung App Store today that you can load onto your Gear device," said Nguyen.

"The wonderful thing about development for the gear is that your app, or your game, can actually be standalone, or it could be connected to your device. [It can even] work on both of your devices, which is to sync.

"There are several ways you can play your game, or have [different] interactions with your game."
