Helping hand: App Annie launches 2 free services to help devs overcome 'mobile's biggest challenges'

Analytics specialist App Annie is to launch two free services aimed at helping developers increase their share of a global app market.

Both App Store Optimisation and Advertising Analytics are designed to boost keyword optimisation and increase in-app advertising feedback to developers.

According to App Annie, there are three major reasons behind the routine failure of those outside the Top 25 to increase either downloads or revenue: getting apps noticed, getting value out of advertising, and cost to developers.

The solution

After drilling down, the firm has highlighted two overarching causes: a perceived lack of resources provided to app publishers, which leads to a blind-luck approach to keyword-use, and cumbersome multi-channel reporting on advertising, which it claims inhibits quality feedback.

To remedy this, Advertising Analytics is set to operate on a unified dashboard, providing monetisation and advertising data across multiple streams in one place without SDK or API integration, while App Store Optimisation is set to make use of Keyword Top Charts and Top Keywords by App in order to optimise organic searches.

By integrating with over 20 ad platforms - such as InMobi, Admob, and AdColony - and aggregating data for iOS, Google Play, and Amazon App Store performance, Advertising Analytics provides a holistic view at how a game and its placements are performing across the mobile space.

Better still, it does all this from one unified dashboard, which allows mobile devs to track the revenue, spend, clicks, and impressions from all integrated ad networks in one place.

Together as one

Speaking on the new services, CEO Bertrand Schmitt stressed the need for unification and simplification.

"Inapp advertising is one of the most rapidly growing sources of revenue, but advertising technologies are greatly fragmented and difficult to navigate for publishers," Schmitt began.

"While advertising is beginning to rival freemium as a leading method of generating revenue, publishers will benefit greatly from being able to analyze their advertising data in a holistic sense: next to app store data, with ad data from more than 20 platforms.

"The addition of keyword optimization tools makes App Annie's platform the most comprehensive app marketing tool available in the world and we are thrilled to see these additions go live today,"
