Marina Nissim on tailoring your tactics

Perfect fit: There's no one size fits all monetisation model for mobile, says StartApp

There isn't a 'one size fits all' monetisation model'. Rather, the best approach, suggests StartApp's business development manager, Marina Nissim, is the one that suits your particular game.

Speaking to PocketGamer.biz at PG Connects in Helsinki, Nissim stressed good monetisation might be about throwing different techniques against the wall and seeing what sticks, but great monetisation is about having the intelligence to see what works and what doesn't.

Think about it

Developers need to plan ahead and get motivated about monetisation. If they end up spamming their users, they've lost the war.

"Think ahead and plan your app as soon as possible. Developers need to think about the business model that fits their app," said Nissim.

"It can be F2P, it can be in-app purchases, it can be virtual currency, but [monetisation] isn't about throwing everything model that's available into your app.

"It's not about spamming your users, I'm against that completely."

What do you call someone who has an unhealthy obsession with video games and Sean Bean? That'd be a 'Chris Kerr'. Chris is one of those deluded souls who actually believes that one day Sean Bean will survive a movie. Poor guy.
