Going cross-platform accelerates business

Faster, more furious: Racing Rivals hits 12 million downloads with Google Play launch

Having previously received over seven million downloads on iOS, a Google Play release has seen real-time multiplayer drag racer Racing Rivals  accelerating passed the 12 million mark.

Indeed, a combination of untapped demand on the platform and the game’s cross platform features meant that its launch was faster on Android, with two million downloads in its first two weeks.

It’s also already appeared in the top 50 top grossing charts on Google Play.

"Racing Rivals  remains a top grossing app for iOS and number one in the racing category, and now we're seeing similar success in the Google Play store," said Matt Nutt, studio head and general manager, Cie Games.

"Because the game features cross-platform, live multiplayer, every new platform release strengthens and expands our player base.

“Not only are we seeing great numbers on Android, we're also seeing significant lift on iOS without having added anything new for that player population, except for more players."

Available in in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese and Korean, one of the key features of Racing Rivals  is that it lets players wage their cars on the outcome of races.
