Dutch publisher Spil Games has acquired Mousebreaker.com, a browser game portal, from Time Inc. UK, boosting its portal business with an additional 1.5 million players, mostly men aged 18-35.

The age range and gender demographic is reportedly of high interest to advertisers, so Spil is likely looking to cash in on the available ad revenue by picking up these players.

The boys are back

“Young men who play sports games are some of the most loyal players out there,” said Tung Nguyen-Khac, CEO of Spil Games.

“They play longer and are more likely to come back. The Mousebreaker purchase gives us a base for some serious revenue-generating opportunities.”

Spil will also look to bring some of Mousbreaker's IPs to mobile, including the popular Sports Head series.

Spil has been adding to its portfolio a lot lately, having acquired the Creatures license back in March 2016, so it’s clearly spreading its audience reach as far as possible to generate revenues from all corners of the gaming sector.
