Android 7.0 Nougat rolls out on Nexus devices with Vulkan API support to boost game graphics

Google has started to roll out its latest version of its Android OS to Nexus devices.

Called Android Nougat, the operating system adds in a number of different functionalities. One feature includes the ability to run two apps simultaneously on screen, with adjustable window sizes.

The new OS also comes with support for Vulkan, a 3D rendering API designed to dramatically boost game graphics, and Daydream, Google's own VR platform.

Other features include the ability to reply directly to notifications without loading the app, the option to rearrange your Quick Settings menu and better encryption for files.

Another 72 emoji have been added too, if that's more your thing.

The Nougat OS will be slowly rolled out over the next few weeks to Nexus devices. There's no word on other devices receiving the update just yet.

You can find out more about the update on the official Android blog.
