Pokemon GO named Mobile Game of the Year 2016 at The Golden Joystick Awards

Niantic’s smash-hit Pokemon GO has been named as the Handheld/Mobile Game of the Year 2016 at The Golden Joystick Awards.

The hit game, which has shattered records for generating hundreds of millions of dollars in the fastest time, beat Monster Hunter Generations and Clash Royale to take the top prize.

AR over VR

Pokemon GO also won Innovation of the Year thanks to its use of augmented reality and location-based technology, beating out the year’s big virtual reality headset launches of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
