Californian man embezzles $5 million from employer, spends $1 million in Game of War

A man in California has admitted to spending over $1 million in Game of War after pleading guilty to embezzling $4.89 million from his employer.

Kevin Lee Co was the controller of heavy equipment firm Holt California. He was in charge of the accounting department and managed the company's credit account between 2009 and 2015.

With his level of access, Co was able to make fraudulent charges using the account. He also had access to all the records, which he then falsified.

Go big or go home

One of the biggest purchases listed in the lawsuit against Co was for approximately $1 million spent on MZ's Game of War. He also paid for luxury cars, plastic surgery, golf club membership and sports season tickets.

Game of War is known for attracting high-paying players. Its ARPU has been estimated at around $350, and it's been calculated that a player could spend $120,000 and still have plenty more to buy.

Co has proven this last calculation and then some. He faces up to 20 years in jail for committing fraud.
