Supercell’s Clash Royale grosses $1 billion in less than a year

Finnish studio's latest hasn't left US App Store top 10 grossing rankings since September 2016

Supercell’s Clash Royale grosses $1 billion in less than a year

Supercell’s latest smash hit Clash Royalehas grossed over $1 billion in less than a year, according to a report.

Sensor Tower claims the game has achieved five times the revenue Clash of Clans made during the same launch period.

Of course, it should be noted how much Supercell and its Clash IP has grown since the original 2012 release.

Clash Royale was released on March 2nd 2016, and since September, the game hasn’t left the top 10 top grossing spots on the US App Store.

Super growth

The news comes as Supercell’s revenues grew 8.6% year-on-year to $2.3 billion in 2016, its best year ever.

Earnings before tax were also said to have reached over $1 billion for the year.

Supercell Ilkka Paananen put the revenue growth down to the success of Clash Royale and a lower advertising spend by the company during the year.
