Helsinki-based developer Small Giant Games has closed a €5.4 million ($5.7 million) funding round to grow its latest game Empires & Puzzles.
The Investment was led by Stockholm-based EQT Ventures. Early investors Creandum, Spintop Ventures, PROfounders and First Fellow Partners all contributed to the round as well.
The funds will primarily be used for the marketing of Small Giant's most recent game. It will also contribute to development of new titles in the future.
A clear vision
"We started our new game with a clear vision of creating something that's super easy to pick up and play, but that also surprises the players with unforeseen depth and a fresh take on familiar elements," said Timo Soininen, CEO at Small Giant Games.
"EQT Ventures' Lars Jörnow has extensive experience in mobile gaming from his time at King and, coupled with their hands-on approach, they'll be of great help to us in improving and growing this game and others in the future."
The funding round brings Small Giant's total to around $9.5 million raised, having most recently closed a $3.7 million round in October 2014.
