Pokemon GO picks up three nominations at the BAFTA Games Awards

Niantic's Pokemon GO has been nominated for three accolades at the upcoming BAFTA Games Awards.

The game is nominated in the Mobile, Family and Innovation categories. It is the most nominated mobile game at the BAFTAs.

It faces The Banner Saga 2, Deus Ex GO, Dawn of Titans, Reigns and 3DS title Pokemon Sun/Moon in the Mobile category. It is the only game in the category to be nominated elsewhere.

Supercell's Clash Royale also picked up a nomination in the AMD Audience eSports Award category. The award is voted for by the general public, not by the BAFTA committee.

Nine times to shine

As for games ported to mobile, That Dragon, Cancer picked up nominations for Game Innovation and Debut Game. Voice actor Navid Negahban was also nominated for his role in 1979 Revolution: Black Friday.

Rounding off all the mobile nominations, children's title Toca Hair Salon also picked up a nomination in the Family category. This brings the total number of mobile games up for awards to nine.

Pokemon GO has already picked up a number of awards in 2017 It won the Grand Jury prize at the IMGAs and Best Handheld/Mobile Game at the GDC Awards.

The BAFTA Games Awards ceremony will be held on April 6th 2017. Those looking to attend can purchase tickets from BAFTA's website.
