Scopely snags Temple Run license for soft-launched match-3 title Treasure Hunters

Walking Dead: Road to Survival developer Scopely is working on a Temple Run-licensed match-3 puzzler called Temple Run: Treasure Hunters.

The game was first soft-launched as Treasure Hunters! on November 30th 2016. It is currently available in Australia, the Philippines and Romania, and pre-registration is already open on Google Play.

It deviates from the typical Temple Run formula by offering match-3 puzzles instead of endless running. Players can also unlock Temple Run characters and customise them with power-ups and new outfits.

Another gem?

Scopely is best known for developing licensed products, so it's no surprise that Treasure Hunters has been attached to a brand. Licensed games have paid off for the developer, with its Walking Dead game reaching a $5 ARPDAU.

Temple Run: Treasure Hunters is not Scopely's only soft-launched game. Strategy title Breaking Bad: Empire Business has now been in soft launch for 16 months.
