Soft-launched shooter Critical Ops surpasses 15 million downloads

Critical Force's mobile FPS eSport game Critical Ops has now surpassed 15 million downloads after 18 months in soft launch.

The game is widely available around the West, including the United States and United Kingdom, but is still considered to be in soft launch by the developers.

It achieved 13 million downloads in February 2017, meaning it has accrued another 2 million downloads in around a month. Its DAU remains at around 500,000 players.

Slow and steady

Critical Force partnered with fellow Finnish developer Reforged Studios back in November 2016 to grow their games as eSports. The two studios are sharing resources, tools and key personnel to work on growing each other's titles.

The developer is continuing to focus on growing Critical Ops' community before it starts to pay real attention to monetisation. Lead Designer Tim Spaninks told us that future monetisation "will come in the form of more cool content."
