Cryptocurrency-powered HTML5 arcade gaming platform ZENIgames has opened its doors with a worldwide launch.

The platform boasts over 1,500 games to play, as well as being mobile-friendly and able to run on both Android and iOS. It is free to sign up for the platform and its games are free-to-play.

Small change

ZENIgames uses its own cryptocurrency known as Zennies. It is totally decentralised, and has its own blockchain which does not rely on other networks.

The name is derived from the Japanese word "zeni", meaning coins or small change.

Developers can bring their own games to the ZENIgames platform and integrate Zennies. This could be either through IAPs or making the title a premium release.

ZENIgames is not the only developer bringing its own blockchain cryptocurrency to games. Swiss studio EverdreamSoft recently launched CCG Spells of Genesis, which uses blockchain technology to allow cards collected in the game to be used in other titles.
