Can it make it big in the West?

Sony's Fate/Grand Order launches in North America on June 25th following nine million downloads in Asia

Sony-published mobile RPG Fate/Grand Order now has a firm release date of June 25th 2017 for its first Western release in North America.

The game has only been available in Asia since July 2015 when it first launched in Japan. It has since been pushed out to China, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Since its release in Japan, Fate/Grand Order has surpassed nine million downloads. Despite this relatively low number, it is consistently one of the top grossing games worldwide each month.

The title was developed by Delightworks and published by Aniplex, which is owned by Sony Music Entertainment Japan.

A part of the story

"Players enjoy being a part of the story of Fate/Grand Order," said Atsuhiro Iwakami, Producer of Fate/Grand Order and President of Aniplex Inc.

"Unlike many other popular mobile games, we have the Fate universe to draw upon. It provides a captivating narrative for fans to become a part of, and keeps them playing."

A vague Summer 2017 release date was announced for Fate/Grand Order in April 2017. That same month, it was the tenth-highest grossing game worldwide despite its limited release.
