Vungle replaces CEO following arrest on charges of child abuse and assault with a deadly weapon

Update: Reports have emerged that Vungle CEO Zain Jaffer has been arrested and faces a number of charges including child abuse and assault with a deadly weapon.

San Mateo County records confirm the charges, though the District Attorney is said to have dropped the attempted murder charge.

The alleged victims are reported to be his three-year old son and one-year old daughter, according to TechCrunch.

Venturebeat reports that Jaffer's attorney, David Olmos, has said the former Vungle CEO has pled not guilty to the charges.

Original story: Vungle CEO Zain Jaffer has stepped down from his position at the mobile ads company and taken an indefinite leave of absence due to personal reasons.

As reported by VentureBeat, Vungle's board of directors voted to immediately replace Jaffer after being told of personal matters outside of his role at the company. COO Rick Tallman has been appointed CEO in his place.

Company shuffle

Tallman has been at the company since May 2015, when he joined as COO and CFO. He has previously held roles at BT Global Services and International Network Services.

Vungle's board of directors expressed their confidence in Tallman and said that they look forward to him leading the company in the future.

The company has experienced six consecutive years of growth and as of February 2017 had an annual run rate of $300 million. Its app integration grew 125% year-on-year in 2017 as well.
