What will it mean for the game's current competitive scene?

Super Evil Megacorp to bring Vainglory in line with PC MOBAs with 5v5 mode in February 2018

Super Evil Megacorp will add a new 5v5 PvP mode to its mobile MOBA Vainglory as part of its 3.0 update in February 2018.

While Vainglory has made a name for itself as a 3v3 MOBA, 5v5 is the standard formation set by previous PC MOBAs. The addition could therefore make Vainglory a more competitive force in the ever-growing MOBA esports world.

Super Evil's E.V.I.L. engine will also receive a number of optimisation updates to handle the larger map used in the new game mode. This means that all existing devices which can run Vainglory will be able to play the new 5v5 mode.

Playing with the big boys

"We at Super Evil Megacorp are a group of gamers and game industry veterans, on a mission to deliver the very best multiplayer experiences to touchscreens," said Kristian Segerstrale, CEO of Super Evil Megacorp.

"Today, we have an amazing player community of millions who play Vainglory and watch Vainglory being played every month. Vainglory 5V5 has turned out to be an experience we've all fallen in love with, and we can't wait to share it with players around the world."

Super Evil recently formed a strategic partnership with manufacturer Razer to boost its esports presence. This included Razer sponsoring the recent Vainglory World Championship in Singapore.
