Empires & Puzzles wins Small Screen Game of the Year at Finnish Game Awards

Small Giant Games took home the award for Small Screen Game of the Year 2017 at last night’s Finnish Game Awards for its hit title Empires & Puzzles.

The match-three RPG hybrid was called the “surprise of the year” following the app's breakout success over the last year that firmly put its developer on the global games industry map.

And the winners are...

Former Very Big Indie Pitch winner Team Ocmo meanwhile took the accolade for Rookie of the Year 2017 thanks to its entertaining and quirky debut title Ocmo.

Elsewhere Psyon Games took the Applied Game Award for Antidote, Platonic Partnership received Best Creative Achievement for Lydia and Housemarque won Big Screen Game for Nex Machina.

Helsinki developer Housemarque also took the main award of the night, the Finnish Game of the Year, for Nex Machina.

PlayRaven co-founder Teemu Haila was awarded with the Lifetime Achievement accolade, while PlayRaven office manager and IGDA Finland event co-ordinator Jori Hellstedt was handed the Volunteer of the Year prize.
