Angry Birds rolls out on Windows Phone as Rovio's first 'Magic Places' hits Nook Color
Rovio's forthcoming dalliance with the big screen put to one side, it's back to the business of games for Angry Birds, with the title finally rolling out on Windows Phone.

It's debut – which forms part of a summer of big hitters for Microsoft's OS – comes as Rovio also unveils its first 'Magic Places' for the franchise, equipped for Angry Birds on Nook Color.

Combined with the launch of a number of Angry Birds themed books and games in more than 700 Barnes & Noble stores, those who visit outlets with the game installed on their Nook Color eReader will be able to download the Mighty Eagle for use in play for free.

Magic move

It's the first of what will likely be many Magic Places promotions across multiple platforms, signifying Rovio's intent to push the franchise to fresh audiences.

"We're very glad to make Angry Birds available for Nook Color and bring the game to another successful platform," said Rovio CMO Peter Vesterbacka.

"Most importantly, we're super excited to take the first step towards taking Angry Birds to physical locations around the world.

"We're proud to partner with Barnes & Noble in introducing the first Angry Birds 'Magic Places' in the world: by visiting Barnes & Noble stores, Angry Birds fans with NOOK Color will be able to unlock new fun experiences - for free."

Barnes & Noble claims Angry Birds is already the top selling game on Nook Color, with the eReader's app store having launched at the end of April.
