Another Xbox Live style connected platform

First look at Agon for iPhone

With Apple saying it doesnt intend to foist its own Xbox Live style community on iPhone game developers, several startups are coming up with their own platforms to fill the gap.

The latest is Danish firm Aptocore, which is launching something called Agon. The company describes it as a location-aware online high score system, offering player profiles, friends and achievements among other features.

Aptocore has just released a video preview of the geotagged leaderboards functionality, which you can watch above.

The company says it's about to launch its closed beta program, so is keen to sign more iPhone developers up to test the platform.

Aptocore also says developers only need include a single line of code to enable the leaderboards in their games. However, it'll face competition from various other platforms, particularly Aurora Feint´s recently announced OpenFeint.
