It's a year since Amazon rolled out its Appstore for Android, and the company has announced a bevy of stats to celebrate the marketplace's first 12 months in the game.
Top of the bill is news the platform now boasts more than 31,000 apps for Google's OS, up from the 4,000 originally available on day one, with downloads reportedly in the "millions".
Cutting up the charts
The most popular paid app on offer throughout the course of the year was ZeptoLab's Cut the Rope, while Rovio's ad-free version of Angry Birds and Disney's Where's My Water? took second and third spots respectively.
Angry Birds Free was also named as the most downloaded free app on the Appstore, ahead of Netflix and Solitaire by MobilityWare.
"Customers have used the Amazon Appstore to test drive and buy millions of apps and games for their Kindle Fire and other Android devices in the first year alone," said store director Aaron Rubenson.
"To thank customers for shopping with us, we worked closely with our developers to offer special discounts on some of the most popular apps all week long."
Those apps include a number of games, such as Fruit Ninja, Tetris, Pac-Man and Monopoly.
'Comprehensive catalogue'
Leading the line, however, is PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies, which can currently be picked up on the marketplace at 67 percent off.
"It's been an exciting first year in the Amazon Appstore and we look forward to many more," added PopCap's director of global mobile business and products, Andrew Stein.
"All of our games, including the megahit Plants vs. Zombies, have done extremely well in the Amazon Appstore, for both Kindle Fire and other Android devices; it's a testament to the great Amazon Appstore shopping experience resulting from its user-friendly design and comprehensive catalogue."
