In what is said to be one of a series of emails recently sent out to developers, Droid Gamers has lifted the lid on the latest updates said to be winging their way to Android Market.
The site has posted the most recent message from Google, with the latest additions heading the marketplace's way set to be unveiled after some back-end outage across the course of Thursday 18 and Friday 19 November focusing on a refresh to the way apps are displayed.
Google is ramping up each app's page on Android Market, allowing developers to link to promo videos on YouTube, additional feature graphics and upping the maximum number of screenshots from two to eight.
Update on the updates
"First, we have added support for a recent changes feature, which allows you to add notes about changes specific to the newest version of your application," Google said in the email.
"Second, there is now a 'draft upload' capability for application updates. This feature enables you to edit your app listing and upload a new version without affecting the version live in Market.
"Finally, we are adding support for larger promotional graphics to showcase your application."
The option for up to eight screenshots (currently two) will be rolled out in future, while the YouTube link is optional.
It's believed that this latest update is just one step along the path to Gingerbread, with a web-based storefront that includes much the same feature set purported to be Google's next move.
