Glu and Namco Networks reveal first Android games
Say hello to Bonsai Blast and Pac-Man
 Product: Android
 Manufacturer: Google
by Stuart Dredge
Yesterday saw Google and T-Mobile finally unveil the first handset to run the Android OS. The T-Mobile G1 has been made by HTC, and will be on sale in the US and Europe this side of Christmas.

Glu Mobile and Namco Networks were the first two mobile games publishers to capitalise on the launch, both announcing their first Android games.

However, they're not exactly the GPS-toting revolutionary apps that Google has been pitching as Android's raison d'etre. Glu's Bonsai Blast is a match-three marble-popping game, in the same vein as its Zuma and Poppin' Panda.

Meanwhile, Namco Networks has revealed that it's launching Pac-Man for the G1 as a free download. "We are picking up the tab for the game," says Namco's Scott Rubin. "We want consumers to see how great Pac-Man looks on this device and how well it plays on the Android platform."

Both games will feature touchscreen and accelerometer-based controls, and will be available through Google's Android Market store.
