Studio Liddell to produce TV series

Yippee Entertainment to make move on small screen with Chimpact
Having launched Chimpact on the App Store back in August, Salford-based Yippee Entertainment has announced the IP is set to make an appearance on our television screens.

The developer has signed a deal with Studio Liddell to develop a series based on the Chillingo franchise that, it's claimed, will feature "second screen interactivity and potential online world activity".

The inner child

"We believe we are well placed to develop fantastic brand extensions for Chimpact and bring it to the broadcast arena," said Studio Liddell MD Ian Liddell.

"We see extensive licensing and merchandising opportunities and are excited by the prospects for the series and further interactive material."

According to Yippee CEO Mike Delves, a TV show based on Chimpact – which was published by near neighbours Chillingo – will perfectly tap into the studio's vision of connecting with "the inner child in all of us".

Mass market move

"We have been overwhelmed by the response of the public, and by the high profile partners we have been able to attract who share our belief and vision for the property," added Delves.

"We are proud to have partnered with world-acclaimed Studio Liddell to bring Chimpact to television and its surrounding merchandising opportunities.

"Our dream of building IP which has long-term traction in the mass-market is being realised."

No details on the series itself – from length to delivery - have yet been revealed.
