Dev framework provider Corona Labs fired up by $2 million funding round
Mobile development framework specialist Corona Labs has secured $2 million in its latest funding round to fuel the growth of its flagship product, the Corona SDK.

The venture funding comes from two sources - existing investor Merus Capital, and newcomer Western Technology Investment - with CEO Walter Luh claiming it illustrates the "tremendous growth" the company has enjoyed in recent years.

"Corona developers span the globe and build truly incredible mobile content each day," said Luh.

"We're thrilled to work with Merus Capital and WTI, and will use this round of funding to accelerate the growth of Corona Labs worldwide and expand our team."

Such growth has led to the firm's SDK being used by more than 150,000 developers across the globe at last count, with COO David Rangel having claimed it remains "unsurpassed in development speed and efficiency for 2D apps and games."

"There are other tools out there, but we guarantee that you will build your 2D apps more quickly with Corona, especially if you are going cross-platform," said Rangel, back in August.

To date, more than 20,000 games, apps and eBooks have been built using the Corona SDK across iOS and Android.
