This isn't the first time Tim Langdell (pictured) has claimed ownership of the name 'Edge' within the games industry.

The popular gaming magazine from Future Publishing uses the name under licence, as does the Anthony Hopkins film The Edge, a Malibu Comics character called Edge, and apparently Namco's game Soul Blade/Soul Calibur was originally called Soul Edge.

The latest game to fall foul of Langdell's well-fed lawyers is Mobigame's award-winning iPhone puzzler, Edge, which has been pulled from the App Store in response to the complaint.

Despite Langdell's evident success in the courts, copywriting a word in common use is notoriously tricky, and Mobigame claims it owns the copyright for the game title in Europe, where it's still on sale.

The developer is in talks with Langdell, and is also looking to extend its existing copyright to US and UK territories so Edge can go back on sale without risk.
