AppyNation: 1 million downloads for Fluid Football just the start

'Vanity number' a stepping stone 10 million+

AppyNation: 1 million downloads for Fluid Football just the start
Back in August, AppyNation took to these very pages to detail how grasping social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook was powering Fluid Football to 40,000 downloads a day.

Three months later, and the firm has revealed to us that the free release – developed by Chromativity – has just passed 1 million downloads across iOS and Android, though AppyNation is keen to stress this isn't a moment to pause and celebrate.

Delivering what's almost a warning to the rest of the industry, comms manager Andrew Smith said AppyNation's target was to build on what's been achieved so far.

Fluid success

1 million downloads, though not be knocked, is a figure plenty of other free releases have also passed, he said, albeit in a longer time frame.

"We're all so hugely proud of the team at Chromativity – the big 1 million is a milestone, and something significant to build from," said Smith.

"Lots of games get there, but the fact we got there so quickly and with no license or any other marketing tricks really does speak volumes. Having a quality game packed with plenty of features that people ask for, and backed by consistent post-launch support can really make waves."

Smith repeated that AppyNation is "not resting" on the downloads amassed to date, however.

"It's a vanity number when all is said and done," he continued. "We want to use those million people to build to ten million, and upwards. Look out for the next step soon - if I say any more than that I’ll get in trouble."

With a fine eye for detail, Keith Andrew is fuelled by strong coffee, Kylie Minogue and the shapely curve of a san serif font.
