GREE announces new partnerships, including Battle Bears dev SkyVu
GREE has announced a fresh set of partnerships that will see four independent North American studios join its mobile social gaming platform.

The most well-known of GREE's new partners is SkyVu, and this announcement arrives just weeks after the company raised its first round of VC funding.

Blue sky

SkyVu is best known for its Battle Bears franchise – a series that has generated more than 18 million downloads to date. SkyVu's latest entry in the series, Battle Bears Zero, will be exclusive to GREE's platform when it launches in Autumn.

"The mobile games landscape is constantly shifting. As the marketplace gets more crowded, quality of product and brand are what matters most. Partnering with GREE allows us to focus on the quality of our games while leveraging their expertise in free-to-play, marketing, analytics and user acquisition," explained SkyVu CEO Ben Vu.

"SkyVu makes cross-platform mid-core games and GREE will be helping us reach millions of new active gamers through their social network on iOS and Android. Our Battle Bears fans demand advanced social network features that the GREE platform provides with excellent support."

Making mobile social

The other three studios that will be bringing their digital wares to GREE's platform are Ninja Fishing developer Gamenauts, MyDinos Go! creator Oceanside Interactive and Ontario-based freemium studio InfiniDy.

As a result of these partnerships, Gamenauts will launch the latest Android version of Ninja Fishing on GREE, while both Oceanside Interactive and InfiniDy will be bringing new games based on their existing properties to the platform.

"Today, there are social games on Facebook, and there are mobile games. But there are no mobile games that offer a comparable social experience. GREE is looking to fill that void in the mobile gaming marketplace, by bringing the social gaming players experience to the mobile world," said InfiniDy CEO Rashid Khan.

"We are extremely excited to be a launch partner on the company's new platform. GREE and InfiniDy share a common goal – to propel the mobile gaming industry forward with a platform that makes mobile more social."

The wild west

GREE was naturally pleased with these partnerships too, and the company is no-doubt hopeful that these games will win over North American players in a way that its Japanese offerings have so far failed to manage.

"As a distribution partner, GREE is committed to maximising our developers' opportunities for success through our platform technology and best practices knowledge sharing, while ensuring independence and ownership of their intellectual property," explained GREE's senior director of developer relations, Ben Chen.

"There is no doubt that the indie community is responsible for pushing innovation in our industry, and we're incredibly excited to see our new partners excel."
