GREE's global game: Social platform's language support jumps to 14
Having secured content for western markets through acquisitions and partnerships aplenty, GREE is now setting about tailoring its forthcoming social gaming platform for individual territories.

The Japanese giant has announced language support for the service has just jumped from an initial body of two – English and Japanese – to a total of 14.

The company claims expanding language support in the run up to launch means the platform will "reach a more diverse gaming audience globally than ever."

Happy talk

"GREE Platform offers developers a way to distribute apps across devices using a single binary, and we recognised the need for the user interface to span languages in a similar way," said senior VP of GREE's EML business department, Ryotaro Shima.

"With the multilingualisation, people around the world will be able to access GREE in their native languages for the first time. This is an important step for us in getting closer to our users and making the GREE experience a truly global phenomenon."

Languages now on board include French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, Chinese (both simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese), Indonesian, Korean and Thai.

The company claims support for Arabic will also be unveiled in November.

At launch, GREE claims developers utilising the platform across iOS and Android will be able to distribute their titles in up to 169 different countries from its single SDK.
