As many Kickstarters are discovering, raising money is easier than delivering a product.

Still, after clearing over $650,000, UK unconsole outfit GameStick reckons it will be roughly sticking to its schedule, shipping development kits of its Android-based GameStick hardware to developers in March.

This is a special pre-production version of the $79 device, which will plug into a smart TV and combined with its companion Bluetooth controller, enable you to play optimised games.

Coming together

Over 500 developers are said to be supporting GameStick, including big name publishers and indies.

More announcements will follow at GDC where the company will be showcasing device and games on the ARM stand.

The GameStick SDK will support C++, Java, Marmalade and Unity, enabling a wide range of titles to be optimised to support the platform and the controller.

As for the controller, it's "nearing readiness for production".

Hopefully that means Kickstarter supporters will get their hands on GameStick during April.
