Entering the battle for the living room?

Google secures remnants of Green Throttle Games

Google has purchased important parts of the recently deceased mobile peripheral maker, Green Throttle Games.

That's according to a report on PandoDaily, which states that Google has acquired Green Throttle's parts and labour, with Green Throttle staff members, including co-founders Matt Crowley and Karl Townsend, joining Google's ranks as part of the agreement.

Despite only launching in late 2012, Green Throttle Games, which sold a custom gamepad designed to work in conjunction with its Android Arena games app, survived for just over a year before shutting down in the final weeks of 2013.

Under wraps

Google has confirmed that Green Throttle's third co-founder, Charles Huang, will retain the rights to the Green Throttle business - a position that's largely ceremonial due to the firms closure in 2013.

Green Throttle looked to bring mobile gaming to the living room

For the time being, Google seems content to keep its cards close to its chest, and no-one knows for sure what the company plans to do with its latest purchase.

Of course, that hasn't stopped the industry from speculating, and it's expected that Google will build on Green Throttle's work in an attempt to create a TV set-top box bursting with rich gaming capabilities.

What do you call someone who has an unhealthy obsession with video games and Sean Bean? That'd be a 'Chris Kerr'. Chris is one of those deluded souls who actually believes that one day Sean Bean will survive a movie. Poor guy.
