Almost a clean sweep

iPhone games dominate IGF Mobile awards
The winners of this year's IGF Mobile awards have just been announced at GDC, and it's nearly a clean sweep for iPhone and iPod touch titles, with six of the seven categories being won by games made for Apple's platform.

The overall Best Game award went to Fieldrunners by Subatomic Studios, which also scooped the Achievement In Art prize.

Meanwhile, Firemint's Real Racing walked away with the Technical Achievement award, while Phil Hassey's Galcon bagged the Innovation in Mobile Game Design gong.

Secret Exit will be happy, too: their Zen Bound won the Best iPhone Game and Audio Achievement awards. The sole non-iPhone game to win was DS title Reflection, which got the Next Great Mobile Game award.

At a time when indie developers are buoyant thanks to the opportunities offered by the App Store, congratulations are due to all the winners and nominees, for showcasing their skills at the event.

iPhone games also made a strong showing at this year's IMG Awards in Barcelona - click here to see who won.
