Excitement is mounting around Palm's new Pre smartphone, among developers, gadget-lovers and (possibly) Apple's lawyers.
The developers now have more reason to be cheerful about the Pre. A group of fellow devs have launched
preDevCamp, described as "a day of webOS application building, networking and fun".
It's not an official Palm thing, though - this is grassroots. The event is currently set to take place in 35 cities around the world, although the organisers say they're shooting for 70-100 in total.
It's planned to take place a week after the US launch of the Pre handset, and was inspired by a similar event - iPhoneDevCamp - for iPhone.
Invited along are mobile and web developers, UI designers and testers. Attendees will work on projects using the Mojo development SDK.
Co-founder Giovanni Gallucci tells
PocketGamer.biz that games developers are warmly welcome, and that they made up the majority of programmers at the iPhoneDevCamp events.

preDevCamp website, or by following the
official Twitter feed.
