Google, Unity, Glu, Rovio and PopCap throw their weight behind new, indie-focused Pax Dev event
Combining a professional conference with a gaming event for consumers has always been an obvious step, no matter which direction you're coming from.

So it is that US event Pax Prime has added a two-day prosumer developer strand before it opens its doors to the great unwashed in Seattle on August 26.

Called Pax Dev, it's sponsored by Google, Unity and Glu Mobile and will be held at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel on 24 and 25 August.

The focus of the event is for indie developers, with workshops on design mechanics alongside industry speakers including Trendy Entertainment talking about Dungeon Defenders, Rovio and Google on bringing Angry Birds to Chrome, and PopCap talking about operating social games.

Tickets cost $329 and no journalists are allowed.

You can find out more from the Pax Dev website.
