McDonald's fires up Pocket Gems' NFL Runner with power-up codes
Demonstrating the collision of big real world branding, Pocket Gems has just launched its new NFL Runner: Football Dash game.

Co-developed with US outfit MunkyFun for iOS and Android, the officially sanctioned free-to-play game also hooks into a real-world promotion with McDonald's.

Players can find power-up codes on Mighty Wing boxes and selected cups in over 14,000 McDonald's restaurants in the US, starting from 23 September.

Big leagues

"It's terrific to work with the NFL at the start of the football season to launch NFL Runner, which combines the fun of the endless runner genre with sports," said Ben Liu, Pocket Gems' CEO.

"It has also been fantastic to work with McDonald's to create a promotional model that provides players with codes found on millions of physical products to unlock free power-ups in the game."

The game is an endless runner, which enables players to join their favourite team, and compete against their friends' best scores as they evade linebackers and safeties, while grabbing collectibles and power-ups as they rush down field.
