Danish software studio Progressive Media has shut down business "effective immediately", with all employees let go.

The news, delivered via the firm's Facebook page, comes with the assurance that all involved will be "working together to find new and exciting challenges for the incredibly talented individuals" that formed the team.

Progressive Media was formed back in 2002 with the intention of working with publishers, hardware manufacturers, service providers and media companies to bring original and branded content to market.

The studio was based in Aalborg, on the northern tip of Denmark.

The firm last graced the pages of PocketGamer.biz back in 2011, when the firm unveiled its RocketFuel development platform back at GDC.

"There are a few good technology solutions that will help you deploy top quality games to multiple platforms, but the reality is that no game can or should be completely identical across platforms," CEO Thomas Nielsen told us at the time.

"You need to leverage everything you can, while also designing specifically for each platform or device. We believe that's the best way to invest in any cross-platform content."
