East goes east-end

Chinese social games dev Rekoo to open office in London's Tech City

Chinese social games developer Rekoo has announced its intentions to open a European office in East London's technology hub.

Rekoo is the first Chinese company to establish a presence in Tech City.

While the initial staff will only be around 10 employees, Rekoo states that it should grow to 25 within three years.

We named Rekoo our #9 top Chinese developer of 2012 for its broad approach to social games which it's launched on platforms like Tencent, Facebook, and Mobage across smartphones and feature phones alike.

Looking west

Rekoo has also identified the western markets - specifically the United States - as its main target due to high levels of monetisation, but the move to London's Tech City places Rekoo in a position to bring Europe into the fold as well.

"Companies in the UK produce very high quality games, and being in London means we can attract world-class talent and find new business opportunities with UK and European developers" said Rekoo vice president Lisa Pan in a statement.

Rekoo's announcement coincides with London Mayor Boris Johnson and Chancellor George Osborne’s trade mission to China where they hope to foster international relations between the two nations.
