Engineous Games launches amateur game dev community for iOS
Reaching out to have-a-go developers the world over, Sketch Nation Studio is a 'game creation' tool designed to let users with little development experience submit titles to the App Store.

The free tool, which is developed by Engineous Games, asks users to draw basic assets before applying said doodles to one of five different game templates.

The tool's strength is, no programming ability or technical background is required to create said releases – just a willingness to perform a few simple actions, such as playing with sliders.

Cash monies

Submitted games are then vetted before being packaged and sold on the App Store, retailing at 99c. The creator and Engineous Games then both receive 35c each per sale, with the rest is swallowed up by Apple.

But, as well as serving as a development aid, Sketch Nation Studio is also a community.

In-app currency - or Sketch Bucks - can either be earned by users or purchased. Credit can then be used to download games and assets generated by other players, with currency then deposited in the original creator's account.

Engineous Games hopes that this system will encourage its entire playerbase to create content, rather than simply sampling the fruits of others' labours. As such, the studio is aiming to maintain a lively exchange of games and assets between its userbase.

You can find out more about Sketch Nation Studio on the studio's blog.
