Spil Games announces HTML5 Advocate

Spil Games has announced the creation of a new position in the company, HTML5 Advocate, to further enhance its developer engagement program.

You might want to put down your CV if you're interested in applying, however - the position has already been filled by ex-Spil Games CTO Robbert Van Os.

Van Os has been a senior member of Spil Games' staff for the past decade, and has held a number of management positions within the company - as such, the transition to HTML5 Advocate is a natural one.

Future focused

Speaking on his appointment and, more broadly, Spil Games' focus on HTML5, Van Os stressed that both he - and Spil - are ready to meet the needs of interested developers.

"Spil Games is more serious than ever about HTML5 since we have seen its traction over the last months and now, in my new role as 'HTML5 Advocate', I am there to help developers make the transition," he said.

"I will really be looking at this from the outside looking in, asking what do we, at Spil Games, need to do to help developers in this space to be successful," Van Os said.

The appointment of Van Os to HTML5 advocate comes months after Spil Games invested $5 million to help interested developers create HTML5 games.
