NimbleBit's latest F2P title, Disco Zoo, (developed by Milkbags Games) tasks players with finding animals, putting them behind bars, and making them dance for cold hard cash.

While the setting may be a little different to NimbleBit's previous efforts, the look and feel of the game is more than a little reminiscent of what is surely the developer's most popular title, Tiny Tower.

So, in this week's Charticle, we'll be seeing how well Disco Zoo has been performing in the charts since it launched just under a month ago, compared to how well Tiny Tower performed when it first hit the market all those years ago (June 2011).

Zoo Tycoon?

It'd be fair to say that, in Europe, things could be going better for Disco Zoo right now.

On the EU5 download chart for iPhone- which takes a look at France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK - Disco Zoo has been having a rough time.

It only managed to break into the top 100 in Italy and the UK, where it stayed in the money making positions for just over a week before slipping into the void.

Of course, poor downloads generally results in a severe lack of monetisation, so you won't be shocked when I tell you that Disco Zoo's performance on the EU5 top grossing chart for iPhone has been woeful.

The game only managed to break into the top 100 in the UK, and after sneaking its way into the top 50 for 4 days it slid out of the top 100 with little more than a whimper.

Tiny Tower's European debut was decidedly more successful.

On the EU5 download chart for iPhone, Tiny Tower broke into the top 100 in all 5 countries, breaking into the top 20 in every region apart from France, and peaking at #6 in the UK.

As you were probably expecting, Tiny Tower's grossing performance completely outshines Disco Zoo's.

On the EU5 top grossing chart for iPhone, Tiny Tower shot top the top of the charts in the UK, where it stayed in the top 10 for the majority of its debut month, while it once again broke into the top 50 in all 5 countries.

Over in the states, Disco Zoo's situation isn't much better - and that's being generous.

On the US download chart for iPhone Disco Zoo started off brightly by entering the charts in the top 20, however, things quickly fizzled out, and after just 10 days in the top 100 Disco Zoo abruptly fell off the map.

Again, the game's poor download performance is reflected in the grossing charts, where it made it into the top 100 for just 4 days, peaking at #83.

Compared to Disco Zoo, Tiny Tower practically took the US by storm.

On the US download chart for iPhone, Tiny Tower entered the top 10 from the get-go. It never managed to claim the top spot, however, it did stay in the top 10 for over a week before gradually falling down the charts.

It's on the US grossing charts where Tiny Tower really excelled.

The game shot into the top 20 one day after launch, and from that point on it spent the entirety of it's debut month in the top 20 and the Top 10, peaking at #3.

That's the sort of position that Disco Zoo can only dream of.

However, given the lack of competition in free-to-play mobile gaming back when Tiny Tower was released, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised.

After all, that was before the likes of Supercell and King had even released their first mobile game.
