Ouya dev U4iA to close its doors

Having set up less than three years ago, Ouya developer U4iA – current home to former Activision vets Dusty Welch and Chris Archer– has announced it is shutting up shop.

Information on what caused the Offensive Combat developer to shut down is scarce, but it would appear that the closure even took U4iA employees by surprise.

"So, we found out in the blink of an eye that @U4iaGames was shutting down today. Huge shout-out to my co-workers. Great people," tweeted U4iA creative and social director, Jeremy Dunham.

"A heavy heart"

The developer pledged its support to Ouya in 2012, claiming that it was attracted to the platform because it offered a more stable future than traditional systems.

"It is with a heavy heart that we write this, but tomorrow, 15 January, 2014, will be the last day of operations for U4iA Games," the company said in a statement.

"Our sincere apologies to all of our fantastic, supportive fans over these last few years.

"We wish we could have done better for you, Thank you very much for your support and we hope to see you again on the other side."

What do you call someone who has an unhealthy obsession with video games and Sean Bean? That'd be a 'Chris Kerr'. Chris is one of those deluded souls who actually believes that one day Sean Bean will survive a movie. Poor guy.
