Vodafone clearing shelf space for iPhone launch
HTC HD2 cleared out to make room |
Vodafone is clearly expecting big things for its iPhone launch, as the provider and high street retailer is apparently clearing out room to make space for the Apple handset.
"We are not re-stocking the HTC HD2 for general consumer sales once current stock runs out," a Vodafone spokesman tells
ElectricPig. "We have had a massive amount of interest in it, and our initial stock sold out quickly. Subsequent deliveries have been used to fulfil backorders, but we are not looking to re-stock the device."
Indeed initial reports did suggest that the
HTC HD2 was a fast seller on launch, which makes it something of an unexpected move for Vodafone to drop a high-selling handset so easily.
Conflict with its
iPhone licence, perhaps, or maybe Microsoft doesn't want to share shelf space with Apple?
