Zeemote signs Telefonica distribution deal

JS1 controller to be bundled with K530i in Spain

Zeemote signs Telefonica distribution deal
Zeemote has announced the latest distribution deal for its Zeemote JS1 Bluetooth game controller.

Spanish mobile operator Telefonica will be bundling the controller with Sony Ericsson's K530i handset and four Zeemote-compatible games: Pac-Man, Prince of Persia, Need for Speed ProStreet, and Fight Night Round 3.

Tagged as a 'gaming bundle', customers will pay €19.90 for the phone, controller and games (presumably this involves signing up for a monthly contract - hence the free phone). I'll go on sale this week.

However, existing Telefonica customers will be able to get the JS1 and games by redeeming their loyalty points with the operator.

"With this announcement that Telefonica, one of the world's leading mobile operators, is backing the Zeemote JS1 controller, we are sending a clear message to the market: support for the Zeemote JS1 controller and business model has become a reality." says Zeemote's Jim Adams.

It'll be interesting to see if Telefonica launches the device in some of its other markets, for example through its O2 subsidiary in the UK.
