The speed bump provided by the new iPhone 3G S will benefit developers working on online games, says Joony Koo, senior manager in the international business team of Com2uS.
"It's good to hear it's faster," he says. "A speedier device always benefits the game performance. It's the same with PC games and console games. It's especially better for online games."
In fact, Koo says that in Com2uS' native South Korea, a big driver for people upgrading their PCs and broadband connections is to get better performance for new online games.
"However, the biggest impact will come from its price," he says. "The launch of iPhone 3G S is dropping the price of the former iPhones. If a user can purchase an iPhone for $99, this will increase iPhone sales, which will lead to a bigger iPhone application audience."
However, Koo comes back to the speed increase as an important point for developers.
"Application developers will be happy to get a faster device and happier that there are no additional work to do to cover the new device, as the apps as it is will run just fine or better on the new device," he says.
Com2uS is preparing to release a series of online multiplayer games for iPhone, starting off with Baseball Slugger this month.
"A speedier device is a good sign for Com2uS' strategy, though the games will work just fine on the devices that already exist," he says.
