iPhone dominating mobile web surfing stats

Here's more evidence to back up the claims of heavy mobile web usage by iPhone owners.

According to analytics firm Net Applications, 66.44 per cent of mobile traffic browsing the web last month was accounted for by iPhones.

Java phones were the next biggest category with 9.11 per cent of traffic, followed by Windows Mobile (6.9 per cent), Android (6.26 per cent), and Symbian (6.17 per cent) - the full data is here.

The figures back up evidence from mobile advertising firms like AdMob, which have been tracking sharp increases in the number of iPhone users browsing the web.

There's a possible lesson for iPhone games developers in this, in terms of consumers discovering titles on websites as well as through the App Store.
