Over here in the UK, the iPhone was immediately equipped with MMS capability once the 3.0 software was installed, but our Apple-equipped cousins in the US are still waiting.
At the time, AT&T promised US iPhoners an MMS service in "late summer", and with only a couple of weeks of summer left, its customers are rightly drumming their fingers on a touchscreen in exasperated apprehension.
The good news is that the iPhone exclusive carrier has now announced its intentions to deliver MMS on September 25th - missing late summer by just a couple of days, but pedantry is a right that its customers have earned.
"The unique capabilities and high usage of the iPhone's multimedia capabilities required us to work on our network MMS architecture to carry the expected record volumes of MMS traffic and ensure an excellent experience from Day One."
Presumably capitalising 'Day One' is a semi-legal walkaround the fact that the real day one was when 3.0 launched, but at this point US iPhone users will probably just be happy to know MMS is on the horizon.
That said, it's not exactly set the iPhone on fire over here anyway. I've yet to send an MMS.
