W3C publishes Mobile Web Best Practices standards

Selling games from a WAP site? You should read them

W3C publishes Mobile Web Best Practices standards
Web standards consortium the W3C has published version 1.0 of its Mobile Web Best Practices, which aims to tell publishers of WAP sites how best to design those sites to make them accessible for users.

With many mobile games publishers now running their own WAP portals to sell games, the document will hopefully be scrutinised closely by the people designing those sites.

"Mobile Web content developers now have stable guidelines and maturing tools to help them create a better mobile Web experience," says Dominique Hazaël-Massieux, W3C mobile web activity lead.

"In support of the W3C mission of building One Web, we want to support the developer community by providing tools to enable a great mobile Web user experience."

There's also some handy flipcards for WAP developers to keep the Best Practices in mind when working.

Meanwhile, the W3C is now turning its attention to creating guidelines for mobile applications and widgets – something that may also be of interest to games developers.
