EA to publish Tomb Raider: Underworld on mobile platform
In a new deal made with Eidos, the division of Electronic Arts' Casual Entertainment department, EA Mobile, is to publish the mobile version of the upcoming hot property, Tomb Raider: Underworld.
"Eidos has a valuable portfolio of intellectual property including the world famous Tomb Raider games," said Javier Ferreira, veep of European Publishing at EA Mobile. "This deal gives EA Mobile immediate access to not one but four high profile titles, which will appeal to a broad audience on mobile platforms." The deal goes quite a bit deeper than Lara's latest offering, granting EA Mobile exclusive, multi-regional distribution of titles from Eidos' games catalogue. Among those included in the inaugural agreement are Tomb Raider: Underworld, Minesweeper, Just Cause 2 and California Games X. This also gives EA Mobile a future option on mobile distribution of the majority of Eidos' games for the next three years. "EA Mobile is the world leader for mobile publishing, with excellent carrier and OEM relationships in all corners of the globe," said Simon Protheroe, online publishing director at Eidos. "We have had great success with Eidos products on mobile platforms to date and this strategic relationship will allow us to focus on making quality mobile titles and utilising the presence and scale that EA Mobile has in the marketplace."
