Crown Quest took first place at the Mobile Very Big Indie Pitch at Pocket Gamer Connects Barcelona this year.

For the first time in Barcelona, Pocket Gamer Connects arrived and provided a space where developers from all over the world took the opportunity to attend insightful talks, network with industry peers and in some cases: show of their exciting projects.

If you aren't familiar with the Very Big Indie Pitch, it's a speed-dating-style event that challenges a group of indie developers to quick-fire pitch their game to various panels of experts, from all corners of the games industry.

Teams who participate then get valuable feedback on both their game and pitching style, as well as gain experience in pitching quickly and meeting a variety of experts. Winners also receive prizes including a golden Big Indie Pitch baseball bat and promotational packages.

For this specific pitch, we saw 20 indie developers come together to show off their mobile games to our judges. There were a variety of titles, from hypercasual to card collecting and action games.

With such a broad spectrum of games and high quality, it was one of the most difficult judging decisions in the BIP's history - with only one point between first and second place. While all the titles are worth checking out, there can only be one winner!

First Place

Crown Quest by Dasi Games

(iOS, Android)

Crown Quest is a hybrid arcade RPG, mixing different game elements. You can build your own fighter, choose from different classes, farm and gather your resources, loot weapons, build your base - there is a lot going on!

It's inspired by ARPGs such as Diablo, but casualised and made accessible through its controls and game mechanics. Many of our judges felt that this take on the genre was very well done and they had a fantastic business model too.

Second Place

Peach Farmer by Tarokai

(iOS, Android)

Peach Farmer is a mobile card game that blends entertainment, community, and real-world rewards. Cards vary in rarity and value, with ultra-rare ones unlocking real-life experiences.

Our judges found the concept behind Peach Farmer to be a great idea - one that would clearly make money down the road, and the enthusiasm they had for their project is unmatched.

Third Place

Dadum The Dice by Pablo Picazo

(Android, PC)

Dadum the Dice is a 3D tactical puzzle game where you control a dice on a board with the goal of destroying enemy dice. You need to battle by rolling your die of a higher number into a lower number die to destroy it.There is a lot of strategy to be found in the way that you end up moving around the board.

Our judges found Dadum the Dice to be unlike any other game that they have played.
